The first Paysera ATMs commence operations in Vilnius, enabling cardless cash transactions
The first two ATMs have been installed in Vilnius: near Paysera's HQ on Pilaitės Avenue and in the CUP shopping center. A third one, also in the capital, will be installed within the next week at the Hyper Rimi shopping center in the Šiaurės Miestelis district.
During the summer, an ATM is planned to be installed in one of the shopping centers in Kaunas.
"As a fintech company focused on digital services, we also recognise the continued importance of cash for many residents. These ATMs represent our commitment to integrating modern financial technology with essential cash operations," says Remigijus Pranskaitis, Head of Self-Service Terminals and ATM Products at Paysera.
Using the ATMs is both innovative and simple – all you need is a code on your phone. To cash-out, clients will choose "Withdraw money" in the Paysera app and scan the generated barcode. To cash-in, they will scan their personal QR code, the same one they use for other Paysera transactions. This method ensures security by removing the need for a physical card, thus preventing loss or data theft.
"ATM usage will be closely monitored to guide our decisions on further expansion," says R. Pranskaitis. "Following a successful initial phase in Lithuania, we intend to extend the ATM network to Latvia."
The Paysera Group already has two years of successful experience in the ATM sector, managing a network of over 30 similar machines in Kosovo.
Despite a gradual decline in cash usage across the eurozone, cash remains a widely accepted payment method. According to 2024 data from the European Central Bank (ECB), 88% of eurozone businesses accept cash, while 85% accept payment cards. These figures are based on surveys of businesses in retail, hospitality, entertainment, and recreation sectors.
In addition to the ATM network, Paysera clients in Lithuania can also withdraw cash at the Vilnius client service centre, Perlas terminals (using a Visa payment card), Lietuvos Spauda and Narvesen kiosks, as well as other banks' ATMs that accept Visa cards.
Besides the ATMs, clients can also deposit funds at the Vilnius client service centre, Perlas terminals, and Maxima store checkouts.
