Paysera clients can now order a personal access token themselves — free of charge and without a separate agreement — and hand it over to an AI assistant, an accounting program, or a system built in-house. The software reads the invoice it receives, identifies who is to be paid and how much, and prepares the transfer. Only the client sends the money: they confirm the transfer in the Paysera Super App on their phone.

In practice it is simple: one or several invoices arrive by email, the client launches the assistant and writes in ordinary words — "I've received an invoice, it needs paying, prepare the payment". The assistant reads the document and fills in the payee, the amount, and the payment purpose itself. A payment draft appears in the Paysera account — like an email draft, only with money: the client just has to unlock the app, look at the prepared payment, and confirm it.

In the European Union, this is still rare. Payment initiation is regulated by PSD2, and bank interfaces are opened only to licensed companies holding a special certificate, so an individual or a small business generally cannot get this kind of access to their own account. Self-service solutions exist in only a handful of markets, mostly outside the European Union.

Created as simply as switching on any other setting

There is no need to request the token separately anywhere. For now, it can only be created in a browser: log in to your Paysera account at bank.paysera.com, go to the account settings section Security settings, and open Personal Access Tokens (this option is not yet available in the app). Creating one takes a few minutes, no agreement is needed, and there is no additional charge.

Only you spend your money

The token works much like a hotel room card: it unlocks one room, not the whole hotel.

The client sets the restrictions on the token themselves. They choose which accounts the software can see, what it is allowed to do, what limits apply to it, and how long the token remains valid. The settings can be changed at any time, and the token itself can be switched off in the same place where it was created. Money moves only when the client logs in and confirms the payment with two-factor authentication. This takes a few seconds and is done in the same place as all other everyday payments. That is exactly why it is safe to use: the limits of access are drawn by the client, not by the software.

There is no automatic signing at this stage — the client confirms every transfer themselves with two-factor authentication. Security standards already allow exceptions — for payments to trusted payees or for business clients, for example — and Paysera plans to introduce these options in the future. The bulk of the routine is preparing the payment anyway, and that is precisely the part the token hands over to the software.

"Artificial intelligence already writes emails and reports, but nobody has let it near money — and rightly so. We decided that the right answer is not to ban it, but to draw a strict line: the software prepares, the human confirms. That line is drawn by the token technically, not by a promise. And it matters to us that it is available not only to large companies with their own IT departments," says Justina Šidlauskienė, CEO of Paysera.

Who benefits most

Small and medium-sized businesses. In a company that pays dozens of supplier invoices every month, there is no longer any need to retype them by hand: the software prepares the transfers, and the accountant or manager reviews and confirms them. This requires neither an IT department nor a separate project.

Professionals who handle financial routine. Freelancers, e-shop owners, farmers. The token lets them hand statement reviews, expense categorisation, and recurring payments over to the software, and keep only the final confirmation.

Private clients. When a utility bill arrives, it can be sent to the assistant, and all that is left is to confirm the prepared payment on the phone.

More than payments

Payment drafts are not the only thing the token can do. If the client grants the relevant permission, the software can also read the account statement: the assistant can be asked to check how much was paid, to whom, and when, to sort expenses into categories, or to prepare an overview of where and how much is being spent.

How the token is connected

The simplest route is the official skill built by Paysera for AI assistants. The Paysera Payments skill is installed on an assistant — Claude or Codex, for example — and given the personal access token. The skill is free and open source.
